About the event

A-Way with Words is an annual poetry event in honor of George Floyd and the ongoing struggle for racial justice. Local and area spoken word artists and poets will appear from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 31st, at the Hyannis Village Green to share powerful pieces of poetry and art revolving around the anniversary of Floyd’s death and issues surrounding police violence and brutality throughout the nation and here on Cape Cod. 


We will have opportunities to PLOT, CREATE, HEAL, and SHARE FOOD TOGETHER.


This is the concluding event to The Big Read Cape Cod which has been a Cape-wide six-month series of events, inspired by Claudia Rankine’s Citizen: An American Lyric, which explored this year’s theme, “Where We Live.”
